On offer today is a 1985 Volkswagen Westfalia Weekender Wolfsburg Edition in very nice condition with 122k miles on the ODO.

It is finished in Agate Brown Metallic on light beige Tartan upholstery.

This is a water-cooled version with an Automatic 3-speed transmission, 1.9 Litre engine rated at 83 Horsepower. It runs and drives absolutely perfect. Suspension feels brand new, steering completely direct. Needs immediately nothing.

Seating for 6, pop out picnic table. Backseat easily transforms into a bed and sleeps 2! Pop the top, climb upstairs to discover another fold-out bed that accommodates two additional people. Outside is an awning that folds out into a spot of shade to chill in front of the bus.

It has been extensively repaired and upkept really well! There are a ton of maintenance receipts ($28,300+ worth!)

Exterior is very straight, clean. A solid 8/10 Shows some signs of repaint, misc. chips, scratches here, there. No undercarriage rust. Does show some bubbling around rear bottom lines.

Super clean interior very well kept. Dash shows some sun exposure.

Pop-top Wolfsburg Edition Vanagon: There were many different Wolfsburg edition models available with a pop-top. For example, in 1984 there were Wolfsburg edition full campers with a higher trim level and two-tone paint job but were otherwise identical to a non-Wolfsburg full camper. In ’85, ’86, and ’87, a special edition called the Wolfsburg Weekender was offered in both 2WD and 4WD (Syncro). That model has a pop-top and upstairs bed, like all Westy full campers from ’80-’91, but no fridge, stove, sink, or cabinet assembly. Instead, the rear seat is full width to accommodate three adults (rather than the shorter seat in full campers that only accommodates two). Behind the driver’s seat, the Wolfsburg Weekender has a rear facing seat with storage underneath. These particular models also came factory-equipped with a 2nd battery system and an all-electric cooler that sat behind the passenger seat and was held down to the floor with two thumb screws. In 1990 and 1991, the Wolfsburg Weekender was replaced by the Multivan (MV) model.

It’s a C code chassis which means that it was originally produced from the factory as a V8. It lived in California all of its life, 20 of them sitting inside of a garage.

Aesthetically the car has very good lines, even for a Mustang. There are a few paint chips, small scratches but overall paint shows a strong 9/10. The body work shows no bulging or bubbles anywhere, which means there is no filler / Bondo. At this point the paint job is over 15+ years old and if there was an issue it would surface. The undercarriage is honest, clean and rust free. There is no welding evidence or previous repairs, undercoating. The glass and chrome is in good condition. She shuts right, and all the windows roll up / down, swivel easily. Front windshield has a few pits.

Interior remains largely original apart from the RPM gauge mounted directly to the top of the dash. The dash does have 1 crack and the windshield has a few chips although none directly obstructs the driving experience. The ProCar Rally front seats give very good lateral support. Very snug, seat belts are almost optional. Under the dash is a water temperature gauge as well as an oil pressure gauge. Original radio still present, however there is currently no antenna.

All in all this is a great vintage racer inspired pony that screams for a 5-speed transmission upgrade and turned into a Targa rally mobile. It’s solid, light, and reliable. It runs between 160-165 degrees, shows no oil leaking / dripping issues, needs immediately nothing.

In the last 50 miles it has had:

– New battery

– New BF Good ridge Radial T/A white letter tires

– Oil change

– Brake booster install

– Brake Bleed

– Alignment

– Misc. trim installed

– All suspension checked, lubed

Includes clean California title, car cover, spare, manual, original front seats.

A recent oil change, brake adjustment, brake bleed, brake booster addition and alignment make this Pony ready to go.
