1971 Ford Torino 500 10/06/2017

1971 Ford Torino 500
Technic : The car runs, and drives really great. The engine has really good power and does not smoke blue or black. It idles very smoothly, and has been really dependable. In fact I liked this car so much I put on over 2500 miles on her. The steering is precise, the suspension doesn’t rattle or squeak and feels well behaved. Brakes on a dime and it’s still the original drum set up. It doesn’t eat oil, and it doesn’t drink water.
Exterior : The exterior is largely original. The hood, fenders, doors and most of the rear end reads really low on the paint meter. The only area which has been repainted is the passenger rear quarter. Not sure why. The paint is very thin, and the brown primer is showing in a lot of areas, however I wouldn’t paint it. It has a real nice shiny, and super cool patina especially on the hood and front fenders. There are some dents, chips, and dings here / there. The passenger rear quarter has some paint cracks where they had spot painted the car. All the gauges, back lights, door buzzers, head lamp, turn signals, fog lamps work as does the fan, and heater. The only thing that does not is the Philico radio and the cigarette lighter.
Interior : The interior has been largely refreshed. The steering whee is original and in really nice shape, as are both the front and rear door panels. The headliner, dash, front and rear seats, carpet and floor mats were replaced along with a new front windshield.
Body : the only rust on the car was underneath both rear quarter wheel wells. Mostly on the driver side. It has been repaired and left in bare metal / clear coat finish. The undercarriage is incredibly solid, and honest.
History : The car was purchased and owned largely by one elderly woman. She had driven the car in a small city in Montana. She had gone in in her older years and stored the car away in a barn. Agter her passing the original Ford employee that had sold the car to her hears about a Torino 500 which has been stored away and wanted to purchase it for his son as a project. After reviving the car right outside of the barn they had made a trip close to 2000 miles without any mechanic issues. This is the owner which I had purchased the car from because he had since bought a newer American muscle car.
The car comes with a clean title, spare, jack, manual, misc. registration slips and insurance cards going back to the original owner and receipts for parts, and repairs which I had carried out on the car.
This car is really wonderful, and can be enjoyed without anything but an oil change at this point.
