1973 Datsun 240z in Collector Condition

The car was purchased, and owned by one man on an island its entire life. The moment he got the car he undercoated it 3-4 times to make sure that it stays protected.

A local mechanic which required a flat bed tow and a ferry has serviced this car since the early 2000’s. There are receipts for over $10,000 in mechanical work that has been carried out within the last 15,000 miles.

The paint, and body on this car are almost immaculate. The owner had installed rubber side moldings which kept this car from ever getting any possible dings. Of course I had removed the moldings. The paint is 9.5/10. There are a few tiny blemishes which were touched up with black POR15 paint, and there is one little indentation on the hood. The original color code is 114 (CoCo Brown Metallic) with Butterscotch Interior. The only modifications to the body are the aftermarket fiberglass front air dam. The chrome bumpers are in perfect shape with very nice, complete rubber trim.

Body has been professionally cleaned to remove all undercoating to show a completely honest, rust free chassis.

Interior is in incredible shape. The factory dash is near perfect with a small crack (see photo) barely noticeable. The factory steering wheel, shifter, gauges, back lights, center console, double padded carpet, diamond cut vinyl, sun visors are in superb original shape. The moment you put your head inside this car you could smell a perfect mix of all the original materials adding up to an irreplaceable effect.

Starts right up, and putters away with a notable Z note. The engine is numbers matching with a factory 4 speed. The top end of the motor has been rebuilt. Radio is a period correct Blaupunkt with an equalizer installed inside the glove box. The electric antenna works great with an up-down switch. In 1973 240z had gone through a change in carburetors due to smog regulations, at which point they had to switch from the now favored SU’s to the flat top Hitachi carburetors. The carburetors on this car have been back dated to the favored side draft SU’s.

The steering, suspension bushings, springs are all in perfect shape. There are no rattles, or squeaks.

The factory toolkit, spare, manual, and receipts are included with the sale.

1971 Datsun 240z
Beautiful, original 240z in color code 918 (Blood Orange). It has been repainted once in its lifetime and they did a really good job 9/10.
Starts easily when cold, runs great with really good power and impressive oil pressure. The engine is really pretty with lots of chrome pieces. Numbers matching engine with a 4-speed transmission.
Body is in good shape. The battery tray, frame rails, hatch corners and spare area are all completely solid.
Interior is really clean. The previous owner had redone the seats, and door panels. Everything else remained original. Dash has two cracks underneath the cover.
This car originally came with an AC system. The controls are still there, but the entire unit is in boxes. I also have the original orange intake.
